Stories from the Boone County Fair

The Boone County Fair is a perennial event that the Columbia Missourian covers each year. Like many recurring events, it is important to the community, but a constant challenge to the newspaper staff to find new ways to cover it. During a summer semester that I spent as a reporter on the Enterprise beat, I and a colleague decided to use the Fair as a way to hone our multimedia skills. We reported, shot, edited and published a new video about a unique or interesting aspect of the fair, each day, on deadline that was published on the paper’s Web site. This video is from that series and is about a 4H-style animal competition for teenagers.
